Not your usual Mango Daiquiri or Mango Margarita . This is a Mango Cognac Cocktail !
I have had both the Daiquiri and Margarita versions of the popular Mango Cocktail, but made with Cognac is just perfect.
When I first had one of these Mango Cocktails, my first thought was, Cognac ? Really, in a Cocktail ?! I do enjoy the odd glass or two of Cognac, but always neat, no ice, no water.
Since my first sip of Cognac in the Mango Cocktail, I was hooked ! So refreshing and even people who do not like Cilantro, loves this easy Cocktail.
Let’s have a quick glance at the ingredients to make a Mango Cocktail using Cognac:
- 1/2 cup Crushed Ice, or Ice Blocks (shaved ice goes watery too quick)
- 50 milliliters Cognac, I like to use Hennesy VS ( 1.5 fl oz ) – YES, you can use more and the brand you prefer !
- 1/2 cup Mango Puree, or a good thick juice, 100% Mango
- 1/2 teaspoon Cilantro, chopped – use less if you prefer, but definitely add some
- 1 teaspoon Lemon Juice, freshly squeezed
- 1/4 cup Ginger Ale, more or less can be used to top up your glass
- 1 sprig Cilantro, to garnish, optional
Of course a thick Mango Cocktail is just as delicious, however, I have found when I am thirsty, really thirsty, I like my Mango Juice/Puree to be a little thinner.
The addition of Ginger Ale helps perfectly to thin and add more “spice” to the Mango Cocktail. And the Ginger Ale also creates the foamy top (add carefully to avoid spilling).
The perfect Hennessy Cocktail ! And I will be off to experiment with more Cognac Cocktail recipes 😉
