Juicy delicious Italian Meatball Sliders with melted Mozzarella topping ! So good to serve on Game Day or for lunch and great as a light dinner as well.
Our family loves meatballs ! Served any way – over pasta, rice on it’s own with a dip and especially on a roll as with these lip smacking Italian Meatball Sliders .
I like this recipe as the sauce is mixed into the meatballs first. Baking follows and then simmered in more of the sauce for a couple of minutes.
Baking the meatballs also means less fat which is great as I try to use as many fat-reduced / low-fat and wholewheat ingredients in as many recipes as possible.
Use a low-in-salt and low-fat Pasta Sauce if available. However, I know it is not always available from local supermarkets.
The alternative (or if you prefer) is of course to use homemade Pasta Sauce .. real homemade from scratch.
Mine also only had a few dots of Mozzarella, but hubby and my son’s were covered in cheese !
Theirs melted not only over the meatballs but right into the filling as well 😉 . You decide how much Mozzarella you prefer !
