Apple-Lettuce Remoulade makes a delicious and refreshing filling to your meaty sandwiches, hot dogs, chicken or fish burgers – Crispy, slightly tart with a delicious crunch.
If you are tired of all your usual toppings for sandwiches, hotdogs or even a fishburger, you should definitely try this Apple-Lettuce Remoulade for Sandwiches.
This is an absolute delicious alternative to the usual toppings or fillings and kids go crazy over this. The Apple provides a bit of sourness as well as sweetness and works so well with the other ingredients.
I have added this Remoulade to hot dogs the first time round and it was an instant hit with my family. This time, I decided to use chicken schnitzels and the sandwiches were even better than the hot dogs.
The actual schnitzels were not even mentioned by my family, only the sauce, of which this recipe is a coarse sauce more like a slaw consistency and not as the usual Remoulades which is smooth and very saucy.
I do my prepping a little earlier in the day, keeping the Lettuce mixture in one bowl and the Sauce in another bowl.
All I need to do later on, is to cook the schnitzels or sausages, mix the Remoulade ingredients (the two bowls) and slap the lot on burger rolls or hot dogs.
You should use the crispiest Lettuce you can lay your hands on, it really makes a huge difference. The inner parts of an Iceberg Lettuce is best to use.
I could actually eat the Remoulade as is straight from the bowl ! Doesn’t it just looks so appetizing in the photo above ?
Crispy, slightly tart with a light sweetness and a delicious crunch when you bite into your sandwich or hot dog – and absolutely nothing else is needed on your sandwich.
I always serve sandwiches, burgers, hot dogs and that type of lunch (or dinner!) with either oven baked fries or my more recent crave, potato wedges.
