We are busy with some minor changes and painting in our lounge. But, for today, I’d like to share with you one simple, but so effective way to hide all the electrical wirings and plugs normally found on the TV stand.
As you can see, our television set, is on the wall and not on the actual TV stand. The stand holds all the associated electronics and a few decor pieces {which will also be changed during the next day or two}
Right, let’s move along and see where the wires were and where they are now …
Pretty self explanatory photo above … You will notice that we had to use some trunking to hide the wires down from the television set {those we painted the same color as the wall}
We have brick walls throughout the house, therefore, no quick cuts into drywall or wooden walls {hence the necessary trunking above} – which, of course is a great way of hiding any wires.
The RED is where all today’s action is … – no more unsightly wires, but the TV stand still looks open
Simple solution – cut a thin back board and glue or staple to the back of the openings
The front of the back board is painted the same color as the walls – you really have to get close to see the difference and you would actually only notice any difference because of the smooth board and the textured walls
The arrows shows where the board and wall meets …
A note of what I did in the circled area – I asked Roy to cut the board to end above the floor skirting and not right down to the floor as that would have made a “break” in the skirting which is fully visible to anyone sitting on the couch, looking down.
{mind the dirty floor – we’re still busy in this room 😉 }
See the little blue table on the far left – that’s for the next post re the lounge and hopefully the full lounge mini make-over will follow soon thereafter.
